the Missions Banner, October 2024
“Team Timothy” is part of PMU’s short-term missions arm. Open to Bible Presbyterian young people and adults, as well as to members of sister churches, our short-term mission teams exist for four main purposes:
- to witness of Christ
- to give spiritual encouragement to missionaries and pastors
- to provide an opportunity for believers to consider missionary service
- to disciple the team members
Our teams are not about “missions tourism” but rather are characterized by long hours, hard work and vital ministry.
If you have ever thought you’d like to be better prepared to share the gospel, Team Timothy New York could be just the opportunity for you. Serving with New York Gospel Ministries, (www.nygm.info/) the team will receive gospel training and put that into practice daily through a variety of ministries like serving coffee and conversations, personal evangelism in public places, international church services, music ministry, and providing food and the gospel to those in need. Prior to a week of ministry in the city, Team Timothy NY will spend two nights and a day at SOLA Appalachian Retreat, where the team will visit and serve the Douma’s hiker ministry in Unionville, NY. This team will experience rural and urban ministry, and have the opportunity to take the gospel to people from around the world without leaving the USA. We are looking for a team of 8-20 people. Individuals 16 and older may apply. Individuals as young as 13 may apply with a parent. The cost is $650 plus your transportation to Newark, NJ.
