2025 Summer Greetings-The Yong Family

by Rev. Andy Yong
Covenant BP Mission in Tacoma, WA
the Missions Banner, June/July 2025

With Tacoma BPC’s kindness, we installed curtains downstairs to separate the worship space from the dining area.  It helps people focus more during worship. As a designated and separate space for worship, it also changes our mindset toward worship when we enter the space. I am so thankful to God that not only Covenant people are happy about it, but also Tacoma BPC and those who recently prepared a WRS event at TBPC building loved the new setup and the curtains. If everyone is satisfied, it is clearly God’s work. I glorify Him.

The day after the curtains were installed was Lord’s Day. That day, a new family visited our church, a couple in their mid-50s and two sons in their 20s. It turned out that the husband was the one who emailed me two weeks earlier about whether our church had an English service. A Reformed church they had attended for about 20 years had recently closed.  Since their church had to close in March, he has been looking for a church that teaches the Westminster Confession of Faith. He said he did not expect he would find such a church in the Korean community. The following week, I met with him one-on-one. We talked about church and reformed faith for three hours in our first meeting. It was a time of spiritual fellowship where we both shared the difficulties and worthiness that we have faced in serving and planting Reformed churches. It’s been a long time since I have personally had this kind of pastor-to-leader dialogue with another Korean man. I hope and pray that God would lead this family to settle in our church and that we can become a great strength to one another. I certainly know that this is something only the Lord can do according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
